With "Spiritual Standards", saxophonist Jan von Klewitz and pianist Markus Burger have created their own cosmos of sound that has long enjoyed cult status. Their fusion of jazz improvisation and traditional choral melodies touches the heart and mind in equal measure. For over two decades, their duo has been regarded as one of the most sensitive and poetic projects in European jazz. Von Klewitz' warm, expressive saxophone and Burger's deep, contemplative piano playing merge to create music that emerges from both silence and the moment.
