Srebrenica
In the organizer's words:
Bosnia and Herzegovina, July 1995: Approximately 8,000 Bosnian men and boys were murdered in Srebrenica between July 11 and 19, 1995—under the command of Ratko Mladić, then commander-in-chief of the Bosnian Serb forces. A genocide that is still considered the most serious war crime in Europe since World War II, even though the town was a UN safe area at the time. On the official day of remembrance for the genocide, 31 years later, photographer Armin Smailovic and director Branko Šimić dedicate a musical and theatrical reading to these events, recounting them from three perspectives: victims, perpetrators, and observers.
This powerful collage of text, documentary material, photography, and music is presented by the acting duo Jens Harzer and Vernesa Berbo, with musical accompaniment by Amira Berbo. The result is an intense, performative exploration of memory, responsibility, and historical perception.
