If you thought HOK was dead and buried six feet under… you’re totally wrong. Deep down there, in the dregs of the earth, HOK worked hard to come out on time with some of the coolest stuff ever.
First up is Alan Vega. Founding member of Suicide, lover of love, and dreamer of dreams. He’s the one who reminds us that we’re all Frankies, but also that everyone’s a winner, baby. On the 16th of this month, it will be 10 years since he passed away and got his wings to reach rock ’n’ roll heaven.
As our everlasting hero, St. Alan will be duly honored with a brand-new prayer card released by HOK—the seventh in a row. The devotional text is by Alan’s Suicide bandmate Martin Rev. Alan’s portrait on the front and the design are by collage artist Lula Valletta, as exquisite and delicate as ever. And his wife, Liz Lamere, has sent us her blessing.
On July 16, there will be an altar featuring all of our previous prayer cards—our Punk Rock Saints. So, please join us at the Suicide Afterlife Party from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m. in Berlin-Mitte at Eschschloraque (2nd courtyard of Haus Schwarzenberg), featuring DJs Mr. Pelham (NL) & Mitraillette (DE). It’ll be all vinyl with an exclusively Suicide-inspired DJ set. Dream baby dream.
