Exhibition by Paula Leal Olloqui:

For "STADTBEZIRK 15", Spanish artist Paula Leal Olloqui designed an installation in two phases as part of the art kiosks, which uses collages to document the changes in the surrounding area. The focus is on the former Riem airport, the exhibition grounds, the residential area and the shopping center, all of which are regarded as "non-places" or examined for the applicability of the term. This goes back to the French anthropologist and ethnologist Marc Augé. He describes places without social relationships, history and identity that can be perceived as interchangeable and anonymous - such as train stations or airports.

When investigating the district, the artist comes across contradictions and a fluid transition from "non-place" to "place": although subway trains, stations and kiosks, as well as the trade fair, are hardly perceived as places, they too have a past. They represent something and can even create a sense of identity. The pictures were on display in the empty kiosk at the Messestadt Ost subway station in September 2023. The artist has made her collages available for re-exhibition at the Riem City Library as an important new "location".
