Stadtspaziergang: Jugendstil im Saarlandstraßen-Viertel

Saarlandstrasse was voted the third most beautiful street in Germany in September 2025 - much to the surprise of its residents. The main deciding factor was the impressive Wilhelminian style architecture that also characterizes the surrounding streets.

The buildings combine Art Nouveau elements with historicizing forms and reflect the prestigious aspirations of the middle class around 1900. Less playful than earlier buildings, but clearly geared towards an overall aesthetic impression, they still tell the story of the district today.

The walk starts and ends at Bude116einhalb in Saarlandstraße. Tickets must be purchased in advance at the MKK.
