Stage in Progress

In the Roter Salon of the Volksbühne am Rosa-Luxemburg-Platz, we collaborate with the Kontakt- und Beratungsstelle für Flüchtlinge und Migrant_innen e.V. (KuB) to provide a space once a month for people in exile who are in transit or want to stay and for those who have just arrived.

KuB is a self-managed non-profit association in Kreuzberg. They offer various free advice and support services, which are mainly aimed at people whose residence is uncertain and who therefore have few suitable places to go. Those seeking advice receive initial advice, asylum, residence law and psychosocial advice as well as low-threshold social advice in many languages at KuB - they offer special appointments for women in particular need of protection.

The KuB also organizes German courses to break down language barriers, facilitate participation and strengthen contacts among new arrivals. The target group for these language and literacy courses are primarily refugees and migrants who have no or only limited access to other language courses due to residency requirements and various other reasons.

German course participants and those seeking advice often express a desire for more opportunities to socialize, exchange relevant information for new Berliners and practice the language. There is an opportunity to do this once a month in the Roter Salon. In addition, there are various activities that are planned together with the participants. These can be games for language animation, films, making music and much more.
