Dust has a damn bad reputation: I'm sure most people immediately think of cleaning. How unfair! Because dust is actually a truly miraculous substance that gives us breathtaking sunsets and blue skies. It makes it rain and conjures up wonderful snowflakes, it tells stories of earlier times and without it we humans would never have written the best stories. Silke Schlichtmann takes children and adults alike on an exploratory journey through the world of dust and reports in an entertaining way on the most incredible phenomena in which this inconspicuous substance is involved.

Silke Schlichtmann (*1967), who grew up on a fruit farm south of Hamburg, began writing history at primary school. In 1999, she completed her doctorate in literature and her dissertation became an award-winning book. She is also an award-winning reader (2019). The author writes books for young and old - and only about what she herself finds exciting.
