The tragic story of a disfigured man(Conrad Veidt) who had a smile surgically removed from his mouth as a child. Incidentally, the disfigured face became the model for Batman's Jocker.

World premiere: The first silent film interpretation on the Osmose (a completely new type of synthesizer with enormous expressive power. The dexterity required exceeds that of the grand piano; Stephan v. Bothmer writes the first piano school for the Osmose. He is also the only one to play a two-manual version).
