Henrike Brüggen

Fantasies on the piano - unconventional and captivating

The pianist Henrike Brüggen is a young and unconventional pianist from Berlin.

The program she will be playing in Schwerte is dedicated to the fantasy - a musical form that stands for freedom, inspiration and spontaneity - as if the music emerges from the moment like an improvisation, unpredictable and rich in ideas.

Musical expression is what drives Henrike Brüggen incessantly. With her determined and consistent artistic approach, she strives to penetrate compositions deeply and bring them to the audience through her intense playing.

Henrike Brüggen, born in Stadtoldendorf, studied in Hanover and Detmold with Prof. Heidi Köhler, Prof. Karl-Heinz Kämmerling and Prof. Anatol Ugorski and completed her studies with a concert exam. She also completed a postgraduate course in historical performance practice with Prof. Reinhard Goebel at the Mozarteum in Salzburg.

She has won several prizes at international piano competitions and performs as a soloist and in various chamber music formations.

She has performed at renowned festivals such as the Schwetzingen Festival, the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Festival and the Gustav Mahler Music Weeks.

Henrike Brüggen has also been a pianist in the Duo Brüggen-Plank since 2007. The duo performs concerts in Germany and abroad and has released three CDs to date, one of which, featuring works by G. Enescu, won the Supersonic Award and was nominated for the Opus Klassik.

Henrike Brüggen is a lecturer in piano at the Berlin University of the Arts.
