Ji-Yeoun You, born in South Korea, received her first piano lessons at the age of five. She made her debut at the age of ten in Yeosu with the Mozart Coronation Concerto. She was a student at the renowned Yewon Arts School in Seoul, where she won the most important national youth competitions.

She continued her pianistic training in Berlin in 1995, where she studied at the University of the Arts and then at the Hanns Eisler Academy of Music. She completed master classes with Daniel Barenboim, Klaus Hellwig, Hans Leygraf, Menahem Pressler, Wolfram Rieger and Elisso Wirssaladze. In 2005, she passed her concert exam with distinction.

Ji-Yeoun You is known beyond the borders of Korea and Germany as a prizewinner of numerous international competitions such as the International Chopin Competition in Göttingen, the Konzerteum Competition in Athens, the G.B. Viotti International Music Competition in Vercelli, the International Johannes Brahms Competition in Pörtschach, the International Young Musicians Platform in Bromsgrove, England and the Berlin Piano Competition.

She has also made numerous appearances on radio and television. Ji-Yeoun You has given solo recitals in Berlin, Edinburgh, London, Paris and Seoul as well as concerts with orchestras such as the Berlin Symphony Orchestra and the Brandenburg Symphony Orchestra. She has performed as an invited artist at the Musica Nova Festival Glasgow and the Bolzano Festival.

In addition to her work as a soloist, she also performs chamber music in various formations. In 2005, she also began to devote herself increasingly to song accompaniment under the regular guidance of Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau.

She currently teaches at the Hochschule für Musik "Carl Maria von Weber" in Dresden and at the Berlin University of the Arts. In her home town of Yeosu, Ji-Yeoun You was made an honorary citizen for her services to music culture.
