World Sport Lumberjack Championship celebrates comeback in Stuttgart's Porsche Arena in 2023

The most prestigious competition in original extreme sports returns to Germany. STIHL TIMBERSPORTS® is celebrating a comeback and a real home game at the same time by awarding the World Championship in 2023: the Porsche Arena in Stuttgart will be the venue for the 18th STIHL TIMBERSPORTS® World Championships on November 3 and 4, 2023. After 2013 and 2016, these will be the third international title fights to be held in the Baden-Württemberg state capital.

At the STIHL TIMBERSPORTS® World Championships, the elite in sport woodcutting, 120 athletes from over 20 nations, will compete against each other in adrenaline-pumping competitions over two days.

World Team Championship - November 3, 2023
The World Team Championship will open the weekend on Friday. The top national teams will compete in a knockout format, with four athletes from each nation completing the TIMBERSPORTS® disciplines of Stock Saw, Underhand Chop, Single Buck and Standing Block Chop in a relay format.

Individual World Championship - November 4, 2023
The Individual World Championship will then take place on Saturday. The top twelve individual athletes in the world will compete in all six TIMBERSPORTS® disciplines in a three-round elimination format. In each discipline, athletes receive points for the time it takes them to complete the discipline, with the lowest-ranked athletes eliminated after each round. The athlete who scores the highest number of points in the three rounds will become the 2023 Individual World Champion.

The top athletes will qualify for the 2023 World Individual Championships throughout the 2023 season, with the national champions of the United States, Canada, New Zealand and Australia competing against the top eight national champions from Europe. The 2023 German champion will represent the host country.
