Awesome Tapes From Africa (ATFA) is a Berlin-based record label & online store, founded in 2006 as a blog by US-American DJ/ethnomusicologist Brian Shimkovitz. Rare, hard-to-find African music:
Reissues and new recordings from all over Africa (Ethiopia, Ghana, Mali, Senegal, Somalia, South Africa and many more) on vinyl, CD, tape & digital. Original cassettes, no remixes, just the pure regional sound from countries that are hardly represented in the mainstream.
Special feature: 50/50 profit sharing with the artists, anti-colonial approach, ethical approach to black music.
