Studio 66

6 artists x 11 minutes = Studio 66! The Neukölln Opera invites 6 individual artists and collectives to the opening, who will perform in various productions during the 25/26 season to give insights into their working methods in 11-minute miniature formats and thus an outlook on the upcoming 25/26 season.

Connecting (HUNTER) is also the program here: the artists do not produce the miniatures on their own. They spend a week together at the Neukölln Opera, work on the respective performances, support each other, enter into spontaneous collaborations and thus create links between their artistic practices. The model for this type of etude is the Short Form Epics of the Centre for the Less Good Idea, Johannesburg. Founded by Bronwyn Lace and William Kentridge, the Centre has been working with local artists since 2015 to develop and test new artistic practices and formats.
Guest artists at the Neuköllner Oper include the South African composer, choreographer and performer Nhlanhla Mahlangu from the Centre for the Less Good Idea, the Scottish composer and performer Genevieve Murphy, the Dutch performance collective Club Gewalt, the non-binary Berlin artist and musician Anthony Hüseyin, the performer and musician Mara Snip and Peter Cora Frost.
