In spring 2026, Belvedere 21 is presenting a comprehensive exhibition of works by the American painter Sue Williams (* 1954, Chicago Heights, Illinois). Since the late 1980s, Williams has been exploring power and oppression, gender relations and body politics in painting and drawing. In doing so, she consistently pursues a critical feminist agenda in what has long been regarded as a patriarchal domain par excellence, which she is able to play with brilliantly in a variety of painterly strategies.
Curated by Luisa Ziaja.

Note: Some works in the exhibition depict sexualized violence.
