Suhrkamp Theater Verlag has been publishing a new book series since autumn 2021: texts written for the theater have been transformed into unusual book objects by the graphic design duo Hanzer Liccini. And the most exciting new plays by contemporary playwrights are also accessible as reading texts.
The plays are accompanied by material from the authors' respective writing processes, which vary from volume to volume, such as an associative photo series, film styles, drawings, an integrated sound recording, etc.
Connected by Linienstraße, the Volksbühne and Suhrkamp Verlag have been new neighbors since the latter's move in summer 2019, and nothing could be more natural than bringing the authors and the ensemble together and celebrating the book premieres together in the Roter Salon.
The reading events are as diverse as the texts and books themselves - combined with film, live music, talks and performances.
