Emergency food from the native flora

In remote areas or in emergency situations, wild plants can sometimes be the only source of food. But which plants actually provide energy, which are poisonous, and how can they be safely identified and prepared? This practical excursion teaches the basics of using edible wild plants under survival conditions.

The course is led by Manuel Larbig, biologist and Spiegel bestselling author ("Waldwandern"). Manuel emphasizes a scientific approach: the focus is on biological knowledge and practical applications, not on military training or prepper background. The event takes place in Rosenthal (North), Pankow, and is suitable for beginners as well as those interested in nature.

In terms of content, the focus is on edible plant species that provide reliable energy and how to safely distinguish them from poisonous lookalikes. In addition, potential dangers, such as parasite infestation, are explained and basic preparation methods are presented - even without cooking utensils. Further course content includes:

The six-hour excursion combines theoretical introduction, practical identification and short preparation units. The route follows a fixed circuit with regular stops to explain the plants, their use and their ecological relationships. There is plenty of time for individual questions and in-depth discussions.

The start and end points are at an easily accessible public transport station. After the course, all participants will receive supplementary materials by email, including plant fact sheets, recommendations for apps and literature.
