Our culture of remembrance must change. Susanne Siegert explains how and why in this book. She argues for a pluralistic, new form of remembrance work with a focus on the responsibility of the descendants of the generation of perpetrators instead of our "rehearsed" joint retrospective with the victims. It deals with lesser-known Nazi crimes, lesser-known places and previously neglected groups of victims. At the same time, this book shows how important a more active, more diverse culture of remembrance is in order to reach future generations even without direct eyewitness accounts.
