Fourteen monumental statues of the Brandenburg Electors from the 17th century are part of the permanent exhibition on the history of the town.
At that time, however, only one half of the family was depicted - women were not included in this form of dynastic self-portrayal. The new intervention therefore juxtaposes the sculptures with four female princes from four centuries for the first time in order to make their impact visible. These include, for example, Anne of Brandenburg (1487- 1514), who as Duchess of Schleswig-Holstein systematically safeguarded her memory by donating important works of art.
The exhibition was created as part of the WIRKSAM project, which focuses on exemplary Hohenzollern women in ten different museums in Germany.
The special issue "Back then" of the WIRKSAM project "Princesses of the Hohenzollerns. Noble networks in the late Middle Ages" is available in the museum store of the Humboldt Forum.
