Immerse yourself in the impressive linguistic world of the multi-award-winning poet Yevgeniy Breyger. In a staged reading with actors from the Berliner Ensemble, poems from his volume "Frieden ohne Krieg" (published by kookbooks, 2023) will be brought to life.
Afterwards, Breyger will talk to journalist and presenter Jörg Thadeusz about his writing, language as resistance, origins and responsibility.
Born in 1989 in Kharkiv, Yevgeniy Breyger now lives in Vienna, where he teaches at the University of Applied Arts. His work is characterized by a consistent development in dialogue with literary traditions - while at the same time consciously distancing himself from them. His poems impress through the diversity and contemporaneity of their linguistic registers, through clear dramaturgies and the intensification of political issues that arise from both individual and collective historical contexts. This results in a tension between text and readership, which sometimes leads to a productive overload - an overload that shakes people up and demands special attention.
The event is sponsored by the Deutsche Bank Foundation.
