In the organizer's words:

The Museum für Druckkunst preserves and communicates traditional printing craftsmanship. Together with the Federal Association of Visual Artists (BKK), it initiated the inclusion of printing techniques in the list of intangible cultural heritage, which was recognized by the German UNESCO Commission on 15 March 2018. This is why the Day of Printmaking always takes place on March 15. A large number of events throughout Germany and even in neighboring European countries are held on this day to impressively demonstrate how alive this cultural heritage is!
