Two years of Sonder Film Lab! The photo lab in eastern Leipzig 🎞️♥️
Wasn’t it just yesterday that we managed—with great difficulty—to haul those way-too-big photo lab machines through the door that was actually way too narrow into this shop? And now those very same machines have been running nonstop for two years and have developed many thousands(!!) of rolls of film from Leipzig’s amazing analog crowd! Photos from all over the world, vacations, trips, photo essays.... Precious moments from the most diverse realities of life. Sometimes loud, sometimes quiet. About growing up, about getting away, about trying new things, arriving, and parting ways. Films as time capsules, on which your grandparents’ wedding has slumbered for many decades in forgotten drawers, or films where photos from Leipzig in 2026 unexpectedly overlay childhood photos from the early 2000s as double exposures. 

A photo lab is a magical place where, sometimes, anything seems possible. Every photo has a story—and we love making all of that visible for you, in the truest sense of the word.

Thanks to the most amazing team that makes this magic possible here in the 21st century 🩵🩷💛 And thanks to all of you who fill this place with so much life and bring roll after roll to our lab week after week 🫶

So on Saturday, July 4, we’re hosting our second open house. There will be a raffle (because it was so much fun last time!), a small flea market, and a print swap (bring your favorite photo from the past two years at sfl and take another one home in exchange 🎞️↔️🎞️), and the lovely @laetitiaheisler will also be hosting a double exposure workshop that day!
