Tango De Amor

"How can we describe music that defies all rules of harmony, all calculable dramaturgy? That refuses to allow our feelings to settle in, that constantly startles our thoughts, that forbids our fingers to patronizingly tap along to the beat? And which can change completely from one second to the next, pulls us in and pushes us away again, gets stuck, only to race off immediately afterwards, is sometimes extravagant, sometimes cool, sometimes full of joie de vivre, sometimes full of longing for death?"

In Esther Vilar's novel, the narrator asks herself these questions as she not only tries to fathom the vibrant attitude to life that is inherent in tango music, but as a former mathematics professor, she is also meticulously researching a mathematical formula for "enduring passion". To this end, she sets her sights on the highly prominent lovers Chucho Santelmo - one of the most successful tango musicians of all time - and his lover Nina Gluckstein. The two seem to have been able to keep each other and their passionate relationship at the height of love happiness for many years. For Nina Gluckstein, there is one sure way to keep Chucho Santelmo tied to her: She must under no circumstances show him that she wants to tie him to her! But at what cost!

The actress Annette Wunsch has dramaturgically adapted Esther Vilar's novella, giving particular weight to the text passages about the tango. Accordionist Goran Kovačević, who is very experienced in the field of tango nuevo, has selected the musical tango literature to match the text and will also perform in this work in the role of Chucho Santelmo.

Annette Wunsch will also take on the role of her fictional - or perhaps real? - role model and "alter ego" Nina Gluckstein and will also interact vocally with Kovačević.

With Tango De Amor - Die Mathematik der Nina Gluckstein, the well-rehearsed stage duo Wunsch-Kovačević takes the audience to Buenos Aires, the capital of tango, and explores the winding paths of love.
