A book premiere with discussion and music.
Thebook paints a panorama of the West German left between "68" and the collapse of real socialism. Based on the life and work of the satirist and communist Gisela Elsner (1939-1992), it traces in particular the developments of patriarchal criticism, feminism and anti-communism - always with a comparative view of the GDR, in which Elsner was also published. Against the background of Elsner's literary and political engagement with National Socialism and its continuities, the book can also be read as a prehistory of the political right-wing developments of our present day.
The event will approach these topics, as they are dealt with in "Die Welt, betrachtet ohne Augenlider", through text - including texts by Gisela Elsner herself -, music and discussion.
