TANZ IM AUGUST zeigt „Phoenix.Sun“ von Kasia Wolińska (Premiere)

The program of the international dance festival unfolds like a weather map, presenting dance as a political force that interacts with its surroundings.

Kasia Wolińska’s newdance solo is inspired by Władysław Hasior’s fire sculptures and stems from the urge to set something ablaze: the choreography becomes a meditation on a world in flames, a sacrificial rite of mourning and rebirth. “Phoenix.Sun” is created in collaboration with composer Heinali and video artist Denis Kozerawski: Carried by live music and images, the dancing body on stage undergoes a constant cycle of creation and decay. The work invites the audience to gaze into a sea of flames—to collectively conjure beauty, horror, and transformation.
