Taxonomy of Remembrance

In the organizer's words:

Sound installation by Katharina Zimmerhackl (artist, Leipzig) and Florian Zeeh (artist, Düsseldorf)

The sound installation explores the relationship between chaos and order, stagnation and (evolutionary) movement. It consists of an algorithmic composition about the "Red Apollo", a butterfly species that is almost extinct in Europe and is surrounded by the myth that it has increasingly disappeared due to excessive collecting activity. The composition is based on a graphic score derived from the wing drawings of a collection of black and white butterflies: a requiem for the loss of biodiversity; an acoustic symbol for the decline of nature.
