Tending to What Matters | Shared Table Picnic (For Men*)

In the organizer's words:

For men and persons who have been socialized as boys or men.

What do you care about most? Who? How do you show it — and do you expect something back? How do you care for yourself? For the men in your life? And when do you actually feel cared for?

We're creating this space specifically for men because care is one of the things men are least often given permission to explore. Not care as protection or provision, but care as tenderness, as receiving, as genuine presence with another person. As something that belongs to all of us.

Boys are taught early to move away from care — to not need, to not tend, to earn belonging through performance rather than through relationship.

We also live in a society that has handed care off as something female and feminine while often keeping it unseen, unspoken, taken for granted.

So for this outdoor Shared Table edition, we want to tend to care itself—and our relationship with it.
