Terrazzo Workshop

Where & When

Workshops are held regularly at Studio Wahoo in Hanover. From time to time, there are also special events at great venues and with special hosts in Bremen. As a native of Bremen, I’m especially excited about these.

Duration

The workshop lasts a good 2.5 hours with a short break in the middle while we wait for the pieces to harden.

Good to Know

I’ll provide aprons and gloves. Comfortable clothing that can get a little dirty is helpful. No prior experience is required.

The material is water-based, free of harmful VOCs, UV-resistant, and fire- and heat-resistant.

Workshop Overview

In this workshop, you’ll create a terrazzo object and become familiar with the versatile material Jesmonite. You’ll have a wide selection of different terrazzo chips to choose from.

You’ll put together your own custom terrazzo mix, blend it with the base material, and pour it into a mold. You’ll have a selection of different silicone molds to choose from:

• Bowls, such as the “Pool Bowls” for jewelry and soaps

• Coasters and the “Drop” tray

• as well as various coasters in round, square, and hexagonal shapes

• Planters for cuttings and succulents

During the workshop, I’ll share my basic knowledge of casting and guide you through the color selection process with my expertise.

After 20 minutes, the mixture will have hardened, and you can remove your piece from the mold. Finally, you’ll sand the surface and bring out the terrazzo pattern. Once you’ve sealed the piece with a food-safe finish, you can take your creation home.
