The trio "The Balkonians" from Berlin has been around since 2013. The trio's line-up is unusual: they play cello, soprano saxophone/flute and guitar, accompanied by polyphonic vocals.

The music is predominantly eastern, sometimes melancholic, sometimes joyful and danceable. They share a common love of European folk music, but - as the name suggests - it is Eastern European music that sets the tone and characterizes their style. They lovingly take up the traditional, reinterpret it and stage it in a new way. The result: Acoustic Balkan Fusion - a journey across the continent, from East to West and back again.
