The Cell The0ry
In the organizer's words:
Alper Elmaci – Fender Rhodes, Rhodes bass, electronics
Jung-Jae Kim – tenor saxophone
Mark Ballyk – drums, percussion
A cell is a repetitive, metric, or non-metric sonic pattern that can evolve, transform, or collapse.
The Cell Theory is a recently formed trio born from the collaboration of three musicians with distinct musical backgrounds.
The trio explores newly composed material through improvisation, drawing inspiration from the musical worlds of Morton Feldman, Delia Derbyshire, Ornette Coleman, and others. Their performances unfold through evolving sonic cells, where repetition and non-repetition shape the direction of spontaneous composition.
