THE DAD HORSE EXPERIENCE.
Dad Horse Ottn & Band present a surreal and eccentric blend of country, chanson, punk and polka. For fans of Tom Waits, Twin Peaks or Wum, the singing dog.
At the age of 40, Dad Horse Ottn started making music on a tenor banjo he had been given as a present. Inspired by the music of the Appalachians and the depths of his own soul, the Bremen native invented his very own mix of country gospel, singer/songwriter, punk and oom-pah-pah-polka under the heading "Keller-Country".
Ottn's original compositions in English and German move stylistically between the genres of alternative country and chanson. His lyrics are characterized by a combination of melancholy and dry humour. Characteristic is the expression of a spiritual longing in the style of the old-time gospel tradition, combined with a snotty punk attitude and sometimes explicit language.
