Atmospheric ghost story as an early horror play set against the backdrop of the Spanish Civil War by Golden Globe winner Guillermo del Toro (SHAPE OF WATER, HELLBOY, PAN'S LABYRINTH), a masterful supernatural thriller of visual brilliance.
In 1939 Spain, towards the end of the civil war, the Santa Lucia orphanage, located far from the nearest town in the middle of a lonely plain, is full to the brim with children. Not so long ago, a boy disappeared there without a trace, and no one has an explanation. When twelve-year-old Carlos also finds a new home in Santa Lucia, strange things suddenly start to happen. A shadowy figure appears. It is the missing Santi, whose ghost wanders through the old walls at night and haunts Carlos with the words "Many of you will die". Fearful at first, Carlos gradually becomes absolutely certain that the rambling cellars of the orphanage are obviously hiding a dark secret...
