The Holy

THE HOLY are a Finnish alternative rock band that was founded in Helsinki in 2014. Even though they come from one of the darkest countries in the world, they are characterized not only by their Nordic melancholy, but also by highly explosive live shows and the unusual band line-up with two drummers. Somewhere between post-punk, Bruce Springsteen and Krautrock influences, THE HOLY's timeless voice, fierce drumming, analog synthesizers and guitar-heavy walls of sound make for a pleasant sense of unease thanks to singer Eetu Henrik Iivari.

After their beginnings in the small clubs of Helsinki, THE HOLY have traveled far and wide, playing festivals and concerts in Sweden, Estonia, Lithuania, Germany, Great Britain, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Luxembourg and Austria. Among others, they have performed at MaMA Music Convention 2023, Tallinn Music Week 2022, Midem Digital Edition 2020, Eurosonic 2019, Iceland Airwaves 2019, Reeperbahn Festival 2018, Where Is The Music, JaJaJa London and Lost In Music.

In 2021, the legendary German music television program Rockpalast broadcast THE HOLY's performance at the Crossroads Festival(watch it here). In 2019, Franco-German broadcaster Arte filmed the band's performance at Flow Festival in collaboration with Finnish broadcaster YLE, and Seattle-based broadcaster KEXP filmed their performance at Iceland Airwaves, which can be seen on the broadcaster's popular YouTube channel

THE HOLY's debut album "Daughter" was critically acclaimed, including a nomination in the Critics' Choice category of Finland's EMMA in 2019. The band received particular praise for their honest songwriting and the album's lyrical themes, such as the economic recession in Finland in the 1990s and reflections on growing up at that time. In 2020, THE HOLY released their second album "Mono Freedom", which was inspired by Alan Weisman's book "The World Without Us" - an examination of scenarios after the disappearance of humanity from Mother Earth. The third album, entitled "Ländmark", will be released in February 2024.
