In the final hours of the Second World War, the "Reichsorchester" (now the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra) decides to record 'Siegfried's Funeral March' from Wagner's 'Götterdämmerung'. Rehearsals with the entire orchestra in one place soon proved too dangerous due to the ongoing bombing. The conductor divides the orchestra into seven bunkers to rehearse. The music is to be brought together and broadcast live on the radio.
Friedrich Mohr was also involved in this undertaking as orchestra manager. To this day, his dream is to recreate this concert. With this project, he inspires the Flemish theater group BERLIN, which wants to draw a cinematic portrait of the city of Berlin. For this re-enactment, the artists enlist the help of the Opera Ballet Vlaanderen orchestra, the radio station Klara and the actor Martin Wuttke. However, inconsistencies suddenly emerge in Mohr's accounts. Is he really who he says he is? The work of the theater makers takes an unexpected turn.
The Belgian newspaper De Standaard called this multimedia performance with live music "overwhelming from beginning to end". BERLIN have taken their cinematic documentary theater to new heights with this fascinating story of lies and truth.
