Pow Pow Movement:
Pow Pow Movement is a reggae & dancehall sound system and record label from Cologne, active since 1990 and known as Germany’s pioneers of reggae-dancehall sound systems. Pow Pow Movement boasts a success story unlike almost any other sound system in Europe. The crew had a tremendous influence on the reggae scene in Germany, combined with productions by mastermind Ingo Rheinbay. Together with the sound system’s former MC, Tilmann Otto (aka Gentleman), some of their tracks made it onto the German pop charts—songs like “Superior” and “Runaway,” for example. Countless shows around the globe, successful chart placements, and, of course, plenty of vibes are what make the Pow Pow phenomenon possible. Pow Pow Movement competed in the WorldClash 2000 in New York as Europe’s first-ever intercontinental sound to participate in such an event. Although they didn’t win, Pow Pow Movement gained worldwide recognition and paved the way for other European sounds to follow in their footsteps.
