When Cuban rhythms meet the art of classical sound, the result is musical fireworks: The Sarahbanda, founded by the world-famous horn player Sarah Willis, combines the glowing energy of Havana with the elegance of the concert hall. In 2001, Sir Simon Rattle brought Sarah Willis to the Berliner Philharmoniker, where she wrote music history as the first female member of the brass section and continues to shape the sound of the orchestra with her horn to this day. With her charm, exuberant temperament and irrepressible artistic curiosity, she expands her horizons. The sensational success of her "Mozart y Mambo" project gave rise to the visionary idea of integrating the classical French horn into a Cuban band for the first time. In 2025, Deutsche Grammophon released the second album "Cuban Christmas", which combines Christmas classics and works by Bach, Tchaikovsky and many more with rousing Cuban grooves. "Cuban Christmas is a celebration of culture, togetherness and the music that makes the Christmas season so magical," says Sarah Willis. This spirited Christmas program bathes familiar international classics in a new, warm and rhythmically pulsating light during the Advent season. Melodies such as "Silent Night", "White Christmas", "Jingle Bells" and "Feliz Navidad" merge with the rich tradition of Cuban dance music - characterized by salsa, mambo, bolero and son sounds. The result: pure joie de vivre in sound - vibrant, virtuosic and full of warmth.
