The Saxophones are husband and wife duo Alexi Erenkov and Alison Alderdice, whose minimalist after-hours sounds echo between the sky and the sea and can be heard even in the darkest corners of a smoky lounge bar. The duo make delicate retro chamber pop that combines elements of 1950s exotica, art noir, West Coast folk and smooth jazz.

Formed in the mid-2000s in the California Bay Area, they released their debut album "Songs of the Saxophones" in 2018. The pair continued to develop their searching, romantic style on albums like "Eternity Bay" (2020) and "To a Be a Cloud" (2023), which was recorded live in a decommissioned church.

With tiny, granular shifts in imagery, lyricism and themes, The Saxophones from California subtly question the current state of the world and their place in it on their fourth album "No Time For Poetry" (2025). Still rooted in their signature smoky, faded glamor, "No Time for Poetry" discreetly expands on the natural ease of 2023's "To Be A Cloud" with a sense of anxiety and tension while retaining their inherent romanticism.

"No Time for Poetry" is a commentary on the priorities of our society as well as the spreading culture of fear. The album is a snapshot of The Saxophones' personal and political reflections and a questioning of the uncertain world around them - between ironic resignation and vague optimism.
