One can only congratulate Dax Werner, Kurt Prödel and Susi Bumms. Why? Because they have achieved an impressive feat with the band The Screenshots. Until their first appearance on the scene, the matter was basically perfectly clear. Even if the world was coming apart at the seams every day over this or that disagreement, there was - at least in the pop cosmos - a tacit agreement: music based on the interplay of vocals, guitar, strumming and a bit of bass underneath is through. The Beatles, Radiohead and U2 - only footnotes of pop history, niche music for nostalgics that has fallen out of time.
But then suddenly there were The Screenshots and with their album "2 Million Sales with a Simple Idea" they released what must be called the simplest and at the same time most honest rock music in years. Despite their newcomer status, the trio marched through every trade press publication as well as its online outlet and the entire feuilleton. "Discourse pop at the height of time", wrote Die Zeit, "most exciting German-language guitar rock of the hour" Rolling Stone. With their quasi debut album, the band entered the German album charts at number 45. It ROCKS, it has at least two double bottoms and it makes FUN.
What started on Twitter ended up in the charts. But: Twitter was yesterday. Now they are ROCKSTARS.
