What if people freely met while singing?
What if an exhibition house became a place of perpetual singing?

The Singing Project (2021-continuing) is a collective practice and singing sculpture composed by Ayumi Paul, Artist in Residence 2022. Since its inception, the project has unfolded as an open space for free singing and mutual listening through a series of workshops, gatherings, and an on-site exhibition.

Rooted in knowledge systems that include intuition, imagination, body memory, and dreams as ways of being in the world, Ayumi Paul's activations challenge linear notions of relationships.

In 2023, The Singing Project explores in an expanded form how the practice of sounding can find ongoing presence in an exhibition house. A growing score of practice notes will be placed in resonance with freely accessible areas of the house over the coming months. These notes reinforce listening as a form of mindfulness to create a shared language grounded in perceiving oneself as part of a multi-voiced whole.
