The sound of brass

With the brass ensemble of the Würzburg Philharmonic Orchestra and the wind orchestra of the Würzburg Singing and Music School

With works by Jeremiah Clarke, Richard Strauss, George Bizet, Ennio Morricone and others.

The successful cooperation project between the Mainfranken Theater Würzburg and the Sing- und Musikschule Würzburg enters its third round in 2026: THE SOUND OF BRASS once again brings young musicians together with the brass players of the Würzburg Philharmonic Orchestra in a joint concert.
In the first half of the program, the wind orchestra of the Sing- und Musikschule will perform under the direction of Moritz Löffler, supported by soloists Johannes Mauer and Thomas Rath from the Philharmonic Orchestra. The second half of the program will be performed by the brass ensemble of the Philharmonic Orchestra under Klaus Englert, together with pupils from the music school.
The program spans a wide musical spectrum - from English baroque music and romantic timbres to pop and jazz as well as rousing film music.
THE SOUND OF BRASS is a cooperative project to promote the next generation of musicians. The aim is for music students to benefit from the entire process of working and playing together with orchestral musicians. In direct exchange with them, they acquire new knowledge and gain deep insights into professional artistic work.
