In three episodes at IDEAL and in the adjacent urban space, the exhibition project The Stories We Inhabit takes a look at forms of self-organization in public space and addresses questions of representation and creative power within urban planning. The project illuminates motifs of resistant recoding and informal continuations of urban infrastructure, examines porous, provisional dramaturgies and follows rituals, peripheral narratives and beaten paths in urban space.

The starting point of the project is the necessary relocation of the self-organized sculpture park Neustadt on a wasteland in the neighbourhood of the IDEAL due to urban construction projects. To store the sculptures and objects, an exhibition architecture will be created in the spacious garden of the IDEAL. In three episodes, a growing network of works and artistic interventions will be created in this setting, continuously generating new references and overwritings over the course of the exhibition. The three episodes focus on different themes. The exhibition project and the first episode will open on May 26 with works by Felix Amerbacher, Felix Dreesen & Stephan Thierbach, Felix Melia, Andrzej Steinbach & Arne Schmitt, Reinigungsgesellschaft and Liu Tianxu. The project will be accompanied by talks and a film series in the garden. The dates can be found on our website, in the newsletter or on Instagram.

The project is curated by Gregor Peschko, Clara Hofmann, Martin Haufe and Adrian Lück.
