The Summer Children

In the organizer's words:
In 1957, in the midst of the Cold War, Gabrielle from West Berlin was only four years old when she was put on a train to Norway. She was going to spend a summer with a new family — and she wasn’t the only one. In a humanitarian effort for Europe's reconciliation, more than 70,000 German children from West Berlin were sent to Scandinavia in the summers post WWII. THE SUMMER CHILDREN is the story of these children and a close encounter with the little girl, Gabrielle, who is the director's mother.
