The Tallis Scholars have been around for a heady 50 years under the direction of Peter Phillips, making them undeniably one of the most influential vocal ensembles from Great Britain and of our time. It has taken some time to bring them to Leipzig, but now they are finally making their debut
at a cappella! The ensemble has made a massive contribution to the development and recognition of sacred vocal music of the Renaissance, always striving for an extraordinarily clear sound, which has become the hallmark of the Tallis Scholars. In this concert, Peter Phillips' ensemble devotes itself in detail to the work of composers who worked in the Sistine Chapel in the Vatican, including Palestrina, Morales and Carpentras - including their 'signature piece', the "Miserere" by Allegri. Definitely a must-see!
