The Vintage Caravan - Live 2023

PICK OF THE DAY Concerts & Music rock
In the organizer's words:

After the successful headlining tour for the current Top 30 album "Monuments" in October 2022, The Vintage Caravan now announce dates for Germany again. The Icelandic retro rock trio will be in Stuttgart on November 13. To match the tour, the new album currently in the making is also to be released.

"Probably the genre album of the year!" (Rock Hard on "Monuments", 2021)

Catchy progressive classic rock from Iceland - that's how you could classify The Vintage Caravan musically, but there's a lot more to this exciting young band, which has been counted among the great hopes in the classic rock field since its formation in 2006. The members of the band from the greater Reykjavik area are just 12 years old at the time, at their first major appearance in 2012 at the 'Icelandic Eistnaflug' festival, the three are only allowed on stage in the presence of their parents. Nevertheless, they are able to enthuse fans and critics alike right from the start. With their psychedelic blues rock and their excursions into classic rock, the three musicians soon cause a sensation around their hometown. Especially live, the band is convincing; as a result, a considerable following is formed in the course of the first two years.

By now, Óskar Logi Ágústsson (v, g), Alexander Örn Númason (b) and Stefán Ari (dr, since 2015) are in their late 20s and seasoned musicians who can look back on an almost fairytale career: Their tours so far have taken them all over Europe, performing with bands as diverse as Europe, Blues Pills, Grand Magus and Orchid. 2016 will see their first concerts as headliners, again through Europe and also Latin America. Added to this are appearances at renowned festivals such as Roskilde (2x), Wacken Open Air (2x), Hellfest, Rock Werchter, Summer Breeze (2x), Graspop (2x), Ramblin' Man Fair, just to name a few.

From the beginning The Vintage Caravan are known for their energetic stage performance. In 2011, the self-titled debut is released on their own. Unfortunately, the album doesn't make it beyond the country's borders, so that the band remains known almost only to local scene insiders until mid-2013: "This phase was quite difficult for us, because we really wanted to gain a foothold abroad. Luckily Nuclear Blast approached us," recalls singer Óskar. The second full-length, "Voyage" finally comes out in early 2014 via Nuclear Blast. Much to the delight of bassist Alex Örn: "Never in my life would I have thought that we would ever get to a label like Nuclear Blast. This is an absolute dream. Now we're looking ahead and will do everything we can to make sure we're still on the radar in Europe for years to come."

Their third strike follows in May 2015 in the form of "Arrival." The aftermath of this release provides the troupe with a plethora of highlights in their still-young career: Their very first, two-month European headlining tour, a headlining tour of Latin America, two UK headlining tours, support shows for the legendary Europe in mainland Europe as well as Scandinavia, over 60 appearances at the aforementioned Roskilde, Graspop Metal Meeting, Wacken Open Air and Hellfest festivals. Events that the band would not have even dared to dream of at the time of their formation. With their fourth album "Gateways" (August 2018), the band not only consolidates their own style, but further refines it. The deserved reward: at first go number 75 in the German charts. The tour announced for April 2020 has to be canceled due to the pandemic measures, the band uses the resulting time to finish their fifth album "Monuments", which is released on April 16, 2021 on the Austrian cult label Napalm Records and lands at number 21 in the German charts. On this album, The Vintage Caravan playfully manage to combine modern influences with classic rock elements. With their excursions into psychedelic and progressive realms, combined with blues and even soul adaptations, the trio impressively succeeds in breathing new life into an old genre.

What can be admired especially on stage, because that's where the three Scandinavians feel most at home. You can see them in October/November 2023, by which time the new album should also be on the market, which is currently being recorded.
