silent green presents
Thomas Ankersmit lives and works as a musician and composer in Berlin and Amsterdam. He plays his music exclusively on the Serge Modular, an analog synthesizer that celebrated its 50th anniversary last year - and to which Ankersmit has remained faithful for almost 20 years: a music that insists on creating its own world from a jungle of patch cables.
A kind of musique concrète, but generated entirely from analog, electrical signals. A music in which electricity is sometimes "itself" and sometimes transformed into almost organic, living sounds. Music that is - in the truest sense of the word - tuned to the resonances of the performance space. Music for modular synthesizers that is itself modular - an open form that can be reconfigured and tuned depending on the space and situation.
Justin lives in Berlin and works with sound as a structured material, forming sculptural sound environments that are often shaped by spatial conditions. Justin's performances are geared towards close, tactile listening and evoke speculative scenarios - explorations of spheres of shifting density and physical intensity.
