Cult director Thorsten Lensing is back. Following his acclaimed performances of VERRÜCKT NACH TROST at the Salzburg Festival - named one of the best productions in Europe by the New York Times in 2022 - Lensing is presenting his brand new work as an exclusive preview, as has been the tradition at the Theater im Pumpenhaus for 30 years now.

In DANCING IDIOTS, Ursina Lardi, Karin Neuhäuser, Sebastian Blomberg, André Jung and percussionist Willi Keller play survivors on their way to the next catastrophe. This story is a ludicrous mixture of brutality and tenderness, pain and lust for life. At the center: the terminally ill Goldie. She wants to give her best. With a body that gives up on her. Over the course of the evening, the audience experiences everything with her that is difficult to say goodbye to: wild kayak trips, sleeping hangovers, sauna visits that get out of hand, dancing people, the smell of fresh wood. And the dream of a moon landing. The evening owes its title to the brilliant US writer Denis Johnson. He wrote: "I would describe my characters the same way I describe myself: We are dancing idiots."
