The Highlander Connor MacLeod is immortal. When he survives an otherwise fatal wound in 1536, he is expelled from his village. Another immortal, the Spaniard Ramirez, instructs him in sword fighting and enlightens him: When an immortal beheads another immortal, all of the latter's power and knowledge is transferred to him. The last survivor is given the power to rule the entire world. This power must not fall into the wrong hands. At a meeting in present-day New York, the last survivors face off in a final battle.
