Renaissance masterpieces by Victoria, Lassus and Palestrina - born 500 years ago - in dialog with modern settings of the same texts: Allegri's Miserere is followed at the end by James MacMillan's Miserere, a choral work with cult status from 2009
It is one of the most famous choral works of all: Gregorio Allegri's Miserere already amazed Mozart and Mendelssohn during their visits to the Vatican and was considered by many to be the image of heavenly music. The ORA Singers have just been honored with an annual award from the German Record Critics' Award. Now, at the final concert in the atmospherically lit St. Mary's Cathedral, they show what the centuries-old choral tradition of the British choir means when it is brought to life by young professional singers.
