In the organizer's words:

We are currently showing a new exhibition by Ralf Scherer, who we already know well, in the X-ray corridor. He says about himself and his pictures:

My name is Ralf Scherer, born in 1969. I have been working as an intensive care nurse in the Ruhr area since 1996 - a profession that has shaped my view of people and had a significant influence on my passion for photography. My exhibition TIMELINES shows unposed and unsolicited snapshots of people from major European cities. The photographs, taken in classic black and white, follow the chronology of a life: from birth to death, from young to old. In recent years, my work has been a guest in numerous hospitals and hospices - places that are very familiar to me because of my profession. Art can play a special role there: It inspires, distracts, gives hope and opens up new perspectives. Studies show that art can have a positive influence on healing, and I see its integration in hospitals as an expression of a holistic understanding of health. Especially in an environment where people are experiencing anxiety and pain or saying goodbye, art can comfort, cushion and give new impetus - for patients as well as for staff who are confronted with difficult situations on a daily basis.
In my work as a photographer and as a person, this is precisely where I see the purpose of my work: art that strengthens, inspires and enriches people.
