In the organizer's words:
Robert Schumann, composer and writer, born in 1810 in Zwickau, died in 1856 at the Bonn-Endenich psychiatric hospital. He lived to be 46.
What was going on inside this man? How did he perceive the world? What do his texts and his music reveal? What happens when his music materializes on stage in the form of characters? A play on identities, premonitions of another self, encounters with fantastical creatures, ghostly figures, and doppelgängers.
A Hammond M3 organ, texts from Schumann’s diary, characters, and automatons come together to create a kaleidoscope of intertwining motifs; independent yet complementary, they form a harmonious whole.
