After two decades as the charismatic frontman of the British band Editors, Tom Smith is opening a new chapter with his solo project. With the single "Lights Of New York City", he presents his first own song - an intimate, reflective work that marks the beginning of a new creative journey: "Lights of New York City longs for lost youth; it's a song that looks back on the astonishing light-heartedness of an earlier stage of life," explains Smith. Musically, the song hints at where the artist wants to move in the future: towards a more direct, more personal form of expression. He was supported by Irish singer-songwriter Iain Archer, who helped him to shape his ideas and realize them sonically. The piece is accompanied by an atmospheric video directed and produced by Niall Trask.
